Locations: (Arad, Baia Mare, Bucharest, Craiova, Timisoara) – Romania
Duration: 30th June – 6th August 2024 (37 Days).
Just to give some context, we are looking for volunteers for a project in different communities located in Romania during the period 30/06 – 06/08/2024.
Unity is a volunteering team activity promoting healthy lifestyle in small cities and among young people.
The project UNITY is funded by the European Solidarity Corps Programme of the European Union.
The project aims at facilitating the help and support of refugees children/youth affected by war with the help of local youth, while raising awareness about the importance of a home and the feeling of belonging.
Unity includes volunteers from Romania, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Jordan.
Profiles of the candidates:
– Aged between 18-30 years old.
– Able to commit for the project activities and duration.
– Medium English level in communication.
– Skills in developing activities for children/youth in the frame of outdoor sport and/or handcrafting.
– Align with the values and principles of the ESC program.
– Presenting and committing to a dissemination plan in the sending community.
Objectives:
– Capacitate 60 youngsters with competences to become actively involved in their sending communities in the work of alleviating the needs of refugees or displaced people.
– Give 10 local refugees/asylum seekers the chance to do ESC and contribute in problem alleviation of their peers, while gaining competences that will be useful personal, educational social development.
– Creating a network of prepared NGO’s to tackled through the EQUIP approach wider impact in diminishing problem faced by children/youth refugees Europe.
– Raise awareness about the importance of community involvement in the situation of the refugees, especially in regards to children/youth, through the virtual exhibitions “Giant Doll’s House”.
Activities:
– Daily activities with children/youth (refugees and/or few opportunity) in the community using methods presented during training course in Craiova.
– Summer camp type activities.
– Public events.
– Online/offline promotion activities.
– Involvement in other activities of the hosting community.
Training:
Upon arrival, the volunteers will participate in a 7 days training course in Craiova, Romania on non-formal methods Giant Doll House and Universal Childhood Games.
Accommodation:
In each community volunteers will be accommodated in dormitory students rooms, 3-4/room, with minimum equipped kitchen and shared bathroom.
We need volunteers focused on giving to the community, not on personal comfort or in search of a paid holiday.
All costs related to the accommodation are fully covered by the project.
Other aspects:
– Each volunteer will benefit of travel support according to the band distance calculator.
– Food allowance: 180 Euro for 30 days of mobility. Pocket money: 6 euros/day.
– During the 7 days of training course in Craiova 3 meals/day will be provided.
