Profile of the volunteer:
– Aged between 18 and 30.
– Good English level and determinate to carry out activities in the community.
– Open and interested in working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
– Photo/video and social media content creation.
– Art and handmade crafts.
– Creative and academic writing.
– Cooking and/or greening.
Objectives:
– The purpose of our project is to integrate young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the community by developing their social skills and their autonomy while focusing on informing and sensitizing the community about the obstacles and discrimination these people but also their families face.
This project was born due to the need of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder who participate much less often in social activities compared to the typical ones.
– Through our work, we aim to offer various experiences to those diagnosed with ASD that can later on be generalized to living independently and socially integrated.
Activities:
The main activities will consist of working in a day-care center for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder in order to help youngsters with ASD acquire skills for an independent life and integrate into society by spreading awareness in the community.
Activities will be organized such as:
* Occupational workshop activities to develop a set of skills for youngsters with ASD.
– Weekly cooking workshop (mostly pastry products).
– Weekly art and handmade workshop.
– Seasonal greening workshop.
* Information campaigns and fundraising activities.
* Thematic events (International Autism Awareness Day, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, etc.).
* Socializing activities in the community, in order to develop and maintain the appropriate social behavior for young people and children with ASD.
The activities will take place mostly at the ANCAAR center, the volunteers having a work schedule from Monday to Friday, approximately 7 hours / day with an hour lunch break.

The volunteers will be accommodated in apartments with shared bathroom and kitchen. The rooms will be equipped with internet and extra facilities. Each room will be for 2 volunteers, divided by gender.

Local transport in the city is provided by the hosting NGO.
