Our ESC Volunteer Tala in Bucharest, Romania
My name is Tala Jaradat, and I’m 26 years old. I am from Jordan. This is my first experience as an ESC volunteer. We had training for 7 days in Craiova, Romania, and after that, we were transported to our main community, which for me is in Bucharest, Romania.
The Unity Project aims to support refugee children and youth affected by war. We are working with local youth to highlight the importance of having a home and feeling like you belong. As my first experience, I can tell from the beginning that it has taught me many things that will definitely improve my skills personally and professionally.
We are 60 volunteers from 5 different countries, each with different cultures and backgrounds. Yet we are all bonded in a unique connection, united to achieve the same goal: making a difference during this month and learning as many skills as we can so we can go back to our home countries and contribute there.
Bucharest is a very large city with diverse building architecture and housing. At first, I was intimidated by it, but as time passes, I feel that it’s a city that will offer many opportunities for us to achieve our goals.
I can say that the Unity Project will be a beautiful journey for me that will teach me many valuable lessons in life. This experience is not just about giving; it’s about growing and transforming together.
