Our ESC Volunteer Salah in Craiova, Filiasi- Romania
Hello! I’m Salah, and I’m 29 years old. I studied financial and banking sciences. I started volunteering in 2016 with several organizations in Jordan, and during this time, I did a lot of things and gained a lot of experience working with children, youth, and rural communities. This is my first time venturing into volunteering outside of Jordan through YNDI in the ESC volunteering teams project “InSport”, which aims to promote social inclusion for children and young people through sports activities.
Like any experience, there were certainly challenges, but the positives always outweigh the negatives, and we should always focus on the positive side. Volunteering outside of Jordan has been one of the most valuable experiences for me. I had the opportunity to learn new languages and cultures, but I also learned that you don’t always need prior experience in the field you’re volunteering in; simply put, humans learn through experience.
From where I am currently located in Filiași, Romania, I want to send a message to all young people and children that there are many skills and experiences you can gain through volunteering, whether you are in your own location or abroad. So, my most important message to all of you is to start volunteering now so that we can build ourselves and be where we want to be in the future.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me get to where I am today, with a special thanks to the organization I am currently with, YNDI. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
