Our ESC Volunteer Haytham in Baia Mare, Romania
Greetings, my name is Haytham Khames, I’m 21 years old and I’m from Jordan.
I’m so glad to share this message with you guys, to tell you about my first two weeks in this experience.
A long time ago I used to wonder, how it is to live in a foreign country without speaking its language, not knowing anything about its culture, or having anyone in that country, and I used to see foreigners in my lovely country Jordan and when I get to talk to them asking what do they like here and how it is in their countries they used to tell me a lot of differences.
So now it’s my turn to share my story in Baia Mare Romania with you guys, explaining my before and after thoughts of mine.
At first, I want to start by saying my thoughts before, I had this idea of people not excepting or helping me at all and that because we don’t speak the same language, we will not have a connection between us, but I was wrong. As soon as I landed in Bucharest Romania, people started helping me with directions to the train station, and at the train station I had to wait about 8 hours and they kept me company so I won’t get bored, they always walk with a smile on their faces, they are funny, humble, and they help others, we danced together, laughed together and having a lot of fun.
Secondly, I met many people from different countries, cultures, and languages and we also found a way to contact each other, and they made me feel as if I were home.
Also, I want to tell you that you might think it is hard but when you go to live it is not as when you think about it, SO GO (HAVE IT -LIVE IT -LOVE IT -ENJOY IT).
Lastly, I WANT TO GIVE MY THANKS FOR THE AMAZING (YOUTH NETWORK FOR DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION ORGANISATION) for making this experience possible.
