Our ESC Volunteer Haneen Kelani in Poland
Written by our ESC volunteer Haneen Kelani in Poland:
This clay workshop was the last workshop that I did in Poland. I suggested a workshop to share a recipe of making natural and healthy clay for children that I learned when I was in school. It was super easy and fun to do. The workshop was in English and there was a polish translator. It was a great chance for kids to practice some English, get to know new people from different backgrounds as well as spending good time with their parents while learning a lifelong receipt that he/she can teach to others when they get older.
It was a remarkable experience full of ups and downs, but as I’ve since learned, it’s all part of the learning process. I was glad to assist with teaching foreign languages, leading workshops for Arabic calligraphy, participating in school summer camps, planning events for young people, and helping with marketing. During my visit, I was able to teach and learn from others, which makes me grateful and joyful. The YNDI organization, led by Emad, was always there for me. They helped and advised me the entire time I was there, while I was applying for the visa, and after that without asking for anything in return, and it all was completely for free.
During this journey I got to improve my language skills, sewing, making handcrafts learn how to use Canava, organising skills, communication skills, get to know to new people and learn about their norms and culture, discover the wonderful country of Poland with its stunning cities and natural surroundings, visit nearby countries, and learn new food recipes.
Goodbye Poland, till next time.”
