Our ESC Volunteer Haitham in Timisoara, Romania
From Jordan to Romania: My Volunteer Journey to help refugees.
I am Haitham Al-Ajarma, 25 years old. I started a volunteer journey aimed at serving Ukrainian refugees affected by the war and promoting justice and solidarity in Timișoara, the second largest city in Romania after the capital Bucharest, located west of the capital. In cooperation with the Jordanian organization YNDI, which encourages volunteering and building better communities, my journey began on June 30, 2024.
My journey started from the Jordanian capital, Amman, where the plane took off towards Bucharest, the capital of Romania. From there, the journey continued to the city of Craiova for training, which lasted 6 hours. After 7 days of practical and theoretical training on how to deal with refugee children and youth, I traveled by train to the city of Timișoara, a journey that took 7 hours. Upon my arrival, I found the distinctive beauty and uniqueness of this town, with its river, Mureș, giving it a unique charm.
The next day, we started working with the host organization LOGS, filled with spirit and love for work, sharing the same goal and desire to serve the children affected by the war and make a positive change. I am still at the beginning of the journey, filled with enthusiasm and ambition to achieve my goals and make a positive impact on the community.
I strive to achieve cooperation and hope for these children, proudly and honorably representing my country. I look forward to what is to come and wish success and prosperity for myself and my colleagues in this noble volunteer journey.
