Our ESC Volunteer Rania in Wroclaw, Poland
Hello everyone, my name is Rania from Jordan. First, I will talk about my experience in Wroclaw, Poland.
Wrocław, a city steeped in history and culture, has long been a magnet for students and travelers alike. Known for its picturesque Old Town, vibrant atmosphere, and rich academic heritage, Wrocław is a gem nestled in the heart of Poland. My journey with this city began as an exchange student, but when the opportunity arose to return and participate in the European Solidarity Corps project, I hesitated.
Returning to Wrocław, albeit in a different capacity, allowed me to rediscover the city from a fresh perspective. My initial reservations were soon replaced with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. As a volunteer in the ESC program, I had the privilege of being an active participant in a community that had once embraced me as a student.
Wrocław remains a city of profound significance in my life, one that taught me the importance of embracing change and stepping out of my comfort zone. It stands as a testament to the transformative power of travel, education, and the willingness to give back to the places that have shaped us.
My journey with the European Solidarity Corps commenced with a burning desire to contribute meaningfully to society. Eager to bridge cultural divides and foster a sense of unity, I eagerly joined the program, eager to embark on a voyage of purposeful service.
One of the most significant roles of the European Solidarity Corps is its capacity to facilitate genuine intercultural dialogue. Through this project, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with individuals from various corners of Europe, each bringing their own unique perspectives, traditions, and values to the table. This exchange is not only enriching on a personal level but serves as a powerful reminder of the shared humanity that transcends borders.
And as a Jordanian, I bring with me a rich tapestry of traditions, cuisine, and language that may be unfamiliar to many Europeans. Through open and respectful conversations, I have been able to share the beauty of Jordanian culture, from the warmth of our hospitality to the vibrant tapestry of flavors that grace our tables. In return, I’ve had the chance to immerse myself in the diverse cultures of Europe.
Through storytelling, workshops, and shared experiences, I’ve been able to showcase the depth and richness of Jordanian heritage. From the ancient archaeological marvels of Petra to the vibrant markets of Amman, I’ve shared glimpses of a culture that spans millennia.
As I return to Jordan, I carry with me a renewed sense of purpose and a strong determination to contribute meaningfully to my community. I am committed to utilizing the skills and knowledge acquired during my time with the European Solidarity Corps project to create opportunities and foster positive change.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Poland and its people for their generosity and hospitality. Your country has provided me with a nurturing environment that allowed me to grow and thrive. The memories and friendships formed during my stay will forever hold a special place in my heart.
